About this tour

Three days that get you the desert and the sea, which is more of Egypt than most people manage in a week.

Day one is Giza early, before the heat and the coaches — the pyramids and the Sphinx — then Old Cairo and the Mosque of Amr Ibn Al-As, the first mosque built in Africa, with lunch in the shadow of the plateau.

Day two starts at 6:30 am for the run up to Alexandria. The Bibliotheca on the seafront, the Citadel of Qaitbay built on the ruins of the Pharos lighthouse, and the gardens of Montazah Palace, with seafood on the Corniche in between.

Day three brings it home: the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir, the Mohamed Ali Mosque up at the Citadel, and a dinner cruise on the Nile to finish.

Morning:  10:00 AM — 12:00 pm:  Visit the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa.  An underground necropolis combining Roman, Egyptian, and Greek styles 12:15 pm — 1:15 pm:  Visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.  Modern library and cultural center inspired by the ancient Library of Alexandria. Questions people ask before booking

Is this a private tour, or will I be sharing it?

Private. The guide, the driver and the vehicle are yours alone, and no other travellers join. You set the pace at each site and you can change the order of the day as you go, because nobody else is waiting in the car.

Will the driver stop for prayer, and can lunch be halal?

Yes to both. Tell your guide at pickup and the day is arranged around prayer times, with a stop at a mosque when you need one. Meals are at local restaurants where halal is the norm rather than a special request — say so when booking and it is confirmed in advance.

Do I need a visa for Egypt?

It depends on the passport you hold, not on where you live. Requirements, fees and processing times are set by the Egyptian government and change without notice, so check the official portal at visa2egypt.gov.eg or the Egyptian Consulate in Dubai for your own nationality.
