About this tour
Ten hours that take you across four thousand years of the same city, from a plateau of tombs to a bazaar that is still trading.
The morning is Giza — the pyramids and the Sphinx, with time to go inside one of them or ride a camel along the ridge if you want to. Then into Old Cairo, the Coptic quarter, among the oldest continuously Christian places in the world.
After lunch you climb to the Citadel of Saladin and the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali, which is where you get the view of Cairo that explains the city's scale better than any map.
The day finishes in Khan el-Khalili, trading since the fourteenth century, and still the place for brass, silver, spice and a glass of tea while you decide whether the price is serious.
