About this tour
Three hours from Cairo the road runs out and Egypt turns into something else entirely — and this is the day you go and look at it, in a 4x4 with an English-speaking driver.
First stop is Tunis Village, a mudbrick pottery town above Lake Qarun, where you can sit down at the pottery school and make something out of Egyptian mud with your hands.
Then Wadi El Hitan, the Valley of the Whales — a UNESCO World Heritage site where forty-million-year-old whale skeletons lie exposed in the middle of the desert, from when this sand was seabed.
The afternoon is the Magic Lake for sandboarding down the dunes, then Bedouin tea and dinner as the sun goes down, and back into Cairo around ten at night.

Is this a private tour, or will I be sharing it?
Private. The vehicle and driver are yours alone and no other travellers join, so you set the pace and can change the order of the day as you go. This particular tour runs without a guide at the sites — if you would rather have an Egyptologist with you, ask us and we will quote the guided version.
Will the driver stop for prayer, and can lunch be halal?
Yes to both. Tell your driver at pickup and the day is arranged around prayer times, with a stop at a mosque when you need one. Meals are at local restaurants where halal is the norm rather than a special request — say so when booking and it is confirmed in advance.
Do I need a visa for Egypt?
It depends on the passport you hold, not on where you live. Requirements, fees and processing times are set by the Egyptian government and change without notice, so check the official portal at visa2egypt.gov.eg or the Egyptian Consulate in Dubai for your own nationality. How do I get a price for this tour?
Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and how many people are travelling, and you get one total price in writing before you commit. Because the vehicle and guide are priced for the party rather than per head, a family of four pays far less per person than a couple. Nothing is added afterwards.
