Egyptian Museum, Citadel & Old Cairo Day Tour

Full dayGiza PyramidsCairo

About this tour

Cairo without the pyramids, which sounds like a strange idea until you spend a day doing it.

The morning is the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square — the old one, crowded and magnificent, where the labels are typewritten and a sarcophagus can be sitting in a corridor because there is nowhere else to put it.

Then the Citadel of Saladin, high above the city, and the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali inside it, before dropping down into Old Cairo and its Coptic churches.

Eight hours, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with entry fees, an Egyptologist guide, lunch at a local restaurant and a private air-conditioned car all included. There is usually time to add the Coptic Museum or a felucca on the Nile — ask when you book.
