About this tour
This is the day that makes sense of the pyramids. You do not just see them, you see them in order — and the order is the whole story.
You start at Giza with the three great pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus, and the Sphinx keeping watch over the Valley Temple where Chephren's body was mummified. Then you drive 27 km south to Saqqara, where it all began: the Step Pyramid of Djoser, built four and a half thousand years ago, the first monumental stone building anyone ever attempted.
The last stop is Memphis, capital of Egypt for over two thousand years and now a quiet open-air museum where a colossal Ramses II lies on his back and an alabaster sphinx sits in the grass.
Eight hours, hotel to hotel, with an Egyptologist guide, a private air-conditioned car and lunch at a local restaurant along the way.
