What an Egypt Trip Really Costs from the Gulf: A Verified Price Breakdown in AED, SAR and USD

Last updated 2026-10-02

A four-day private Egypt trip from Dubai — flights, hotel, private guide and driver, entry tickets, visa and tips — is quoted to you in writing before you travel, as a single all-in figure, not a "from" figure. Best Egypt Holidays is a UAE-registered company based in Dubai with 15+ years arranging travel to Egypt, and every quote we give is the full cost: no entry fee is added at the gate and no surcharge is added afterwards. Below is every line that makes up a typical trip, and every line that can push it higher.

This page is reviewed on an ongoing basis, on the same cycle as our Grand Egyptian Museum visitor guide. For a written, dated quote against your own travel dates, contact us on WhatsApp at +971 58 655 7451.

The short answer: what a 4-day Egypt trip costs from the UAE

Best Egypt Holidays publishes 19 multi-day private tours plus day trips, from 3 days upward, including sleeper-train itineraries from Cairo to Luxor and Nile dinner cruises. Every tour is private — there are no coach parties and no shared group departures. A representative four-day itinerary covers Cairo, the Giza Pyramids, Alexandria and the Grand Egyptian Museum, for two adults sharing a twin room, flying Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Cairo International Airport (CAI) and back. For our current published four-day itineraries and their fixed prices, see our full range of tours.

What a package price includes: a licensed Egyptologist guide and a private driver and vehicle (both the company's own staff, not sourced on the morning of the tour), hotel nights, specified meals, all transfers, and meet-and-assist on arrival. Entry tickets, flights, visa and tips are quoted and confirmed separately, in writing, before you book.

What it excludes unless you ask us to add it: travel insurance, anything you buy at Khan el-Khalili, alcohol, a camel or horse ride at the plateau, the separate ticket to go inside the Great Pyramid, photography permits where they apply, and any hotel upgrade beyond the tier quoted. Those are itemised further down, so you can add the ones you want rather than discover them on the day.

Why these figures are checked rather than estimated: Best Egypt Holidays is a Dubai-registered tour operator with its own guides, drivers and vehicles in Egypt, arranging private travel to Giza and the Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Old Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, Aswan, the Nile and the Red Sea. Clients book with a UAE company under UAE law rather than an unregistered operator abroad — which matters when paying in advance for a holiday overseas.

What goes into the total

A four-day trip is built from a small number of cost categories, each priced differently:

  • Tour package — our contracted rate, fixed and confirmed in writing before you travel. Covers guide, driver, vehicle, hotel nights, specified meals and transfers, including airport pick-up and drop-off.
  • Return flights, DXB–CAI — priced by the airline, not by us, and the single biggest variable in the whole trip.
  • Egypt entry visa — dependent on your passport nationality, not your UAE residence status.
  • Entry tickets — the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Giza plateau, Saqqara and the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, priced and published by the relevant Egyptian authorities.
  • Tips — a genuine cost of the trip, and the one most commonly left out of a budget.
  • Day-to-day spending — SIM/eSIM, water, snacks, souvenirs.

We give you the confirmed package price and ticket inclusions in writing at the time you enquire, so nothing on this list arrives as a surprise at the gate.

Tour package: what the private tour price covers

The private tour package covers: a licensed Egyptologist guide for the touring days (not a script-reading escort), a private driver and air-conditioned vehicle used only by your party, hotel nights, specified meals, and all internal transfers including meet-and-assist and transfer at Cairo International Airport. We confirm the exact hotel nights, meal plan and hotel tier in writing before you pay a deposit, since these vary by itinerary and by the dates you choose.

Flights Dubai–Cairo: what the route and airline actually change

Return economy fares from the UAE to Cairo vary with the airline and the season, and this is the part of your total that we do not control and do not mark up. Two variables move the fare more than anything else.

Season. A fare booked for the quiet summer months looks nothing like the same fare in the week before a major Gulf holiday.

Whether the fare includes bags. Full-service carriers out of Dubai price differently from low-cost carriers out of Abu Dhabi. A low-cost base fare can look cheaper on the search page and then land in the same place once you add a checked bag both ways, seat selection and a meal. For a four-day trip with hand luggage only, low-cost carriers genuinely can be cheaper. For a family with checked bags, the gap usually closes. Price the total, not the headline fare.

Flying from Abu Dhabi also means adding the road transfer from Dubai if that is where you live, plus parking or taxi cost.

We do not sell flights, so we recommend comparing live fares at the time you book and let us know your dates so we can build the tour and hotel portion of your itinerary around them.

Egypt entry: visa on arrival, e-visa and who is exempt

Egypt's entry rules follow your passport nationality, not your country of residence. A UAE residence visa does not by itself determine what you need. Some nationalities are exempt, some get a visa on arrival at Cairo International Airport, some must apply in advance through the official Egypt e-visa portal, and some need a pre-approved visa through an embassy.

For full detail on who needs what, and how long it takes, see our guide: Egypt Visa for UAE Residents: Who Needs One, What It Costs and How Long It Takes.

We do not list eligibility by nationality on this page, because that information changes and a wrong answer here costs someone a flight. Tell us the passport you hold when you enquire and we will confirm it in writing before you pay a deposit.

Entry tickets: GEM, Giza plateau, Saqqara, Egyptian Museum

Official ticket prices are set and published by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and, for the Grand Egyptian Museum, on the GEM official site. For current Grand Egyptian Museum pricing, opening hours and visiting advice, see our Grand Egyptian Museum Tickets, Hours & Visiting Guide, verified monthly by our Cairo guides.

Three things catch people out:

  1. The Giza plateau ticket and the Great Pyramid interior ticket are separate. Plateau entry does not let you go inside.
  2. The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir charges separately for the royal mummies hall.
  3. Photography. Some sites charge a separate camera fee, and rules differ between phone and DSLR — ask us to confirm current fees for your itinerary before you travel.

If your package includes tickets, that will be confirmed to you in writing at the time of booking. If it does not, we will tell you which ones to add, per person, per site.

Tipping, and what several days of it comes to

Tipping in Egypt is normal, expected and not aggressive when you have your own guide and driver. It is also the single most common reason a budget feels wrong at the end of a trip, because nobody prices it in advance.

Categories to budget for, per party rather than per person:

  • Private guide, per day
  • Private driver, per day
  • Hotel housekeeping, per night
  • Restaurant service, roughly 10% where service is not already added
  • Porters, washroom attendants, site helpers — small notes, carried in cash

Ask us for current suggested tipping ranges when you book, and we will confirm them alongside your itinerary. Carry your tipping allowance in small Egyptian pound notes — nobody wants a large note for a small tip.

Everything else: SIM, water, souvenirs, extra fees

A tourist eSIM or a local SIM at the airport is a small daily cost. Bottled water is inexpensive and you will drink a lot of it at Giza. A camel or horse ride at the plateau is negotiable and optional — agree the price and the duration before you get on. Khan el-Khalili is whatever you decide it is; set yourself a number before you walk in.

What moves the number: the variables that matter

Treat these as the levers that change your total, not a fixed formula.

1. Season. Cooler months are higher season for Cairo and Giza, with less shade-related discomfort at the sites; the hotter months are typically quieter and cheaper on both flights and hotels. On top of that sit Gulf-specific spikes around major holidays and UAE school breaks, when both flights and Cairo hotels rise.

2. Party size. This is the biggest lever and the most misunderstood. A private tour is priced per vehicle and per guide, not per head. The same guide and the same car cost the same whether two people or six are in it, so the per-person price falls as the group grows. Tell us your party size and we will quote the per-person rate for it directly.

3. Hotel tier. Moving from a standard hotel tier to a higher one changes the package price, and a pyramid-view room in Giza carries a premium over the same hotel's standard room. It is worth discussing for one night; ask us for the specific differential for your dates.

4. Trip length. Adding Luxor to a Cairo trip costs the transport plus extra nights. The Cairo–Luxor sleeper train saves a hotel night compared with staying an extra night in Cairo and flying later; a domestic flight saves time. See our 4 Days Nile Cruise, Aswan to Luxor for one way to combine the two.

5. Private versus joined group. We do not run joined group tours — every Best Egypt Holidays tour is private, with your own guide and driver. A joined group day tour elsewhere may carry a lower sticker price, but the comparison is usually made wrong: does the group price include entry tickets, or are they collected on the coach? How long does the coach spend collecting other passengers from other hotels? Is there a stop at a shop, and how long is it? Once you add tickets and tips and price your own time, the gap to a private tour narrows considerably, and for families or groups of four or more, private is usually the better value. See our Giza Pyramids, Memphis & Saqqara Private Day Tour from Cairo for what a private day out actually includes.

6. Booking lead time. Most Gulf bookings for Egypt come in one to three months ahead. Inside three weeks, the tour and hotel portions of a private itinerary barely move — it is the flight that tends to rise closer to departure, particularly in high season.

Planning your itinerary

How many days you need in Egypt depends on which cities you want to see and how you want to travel between them. For a full breakdown of what fits in 3, 4, 5, 7 days and longer, see our guide: Egypt Itinerary Planning: How Many Days You Need and Which Cities Fit.

If you are travelling from the Gulf on a short trip, our guide to Places to Visit in Egypt on a 4-Day Trip from the Gulf sets out what realistically fits and what each addition costs.

How payment actually works when you book from the UAE

We give you a fixed price in writing before you travel, and that is the price you pay — no entry fee is added at the gate and no surcharge is added afterwards. For the specifics of deposit amounts, balance due dates, accepted payment methods and cancellation terms for your itinerary, contact our Dubai office directly on WhatsApp at +971 58 655 7451 and we will confirm everything in writing before you pay a deposit.

Who you are paying. Best Egypt Holidays is a UAE-registered company based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and enquiries are answered from our Dubai office. Guides and drivers in Egypt are employed directly by the company.

What Egypt costs once you are there: a Gulf resident's day-to-day guide

Cash or card? Carry some cash. Hotels, the GEM and larger restaurants generally take cards; taxis, tips, Khan el-Khalili stalls, site extras and small cafés often do not. The practical approach for a UAE resident is to draw local currency from an ATM on arrival at Cairo International Airport or in the city rather than changing money in Dubai, and to carry a modest backup amount in AED.

Halal food is the default everywhere and prayer facilities are at every site, mall and service stop. It is not a planning problem in Egypt and not a line in your budget.

Want to add a beach day or a desert day? Ask us about day trips from Cairo to extend a Cairo-based itinerary — the cheapest way to add a day without adding a hotel night.

Where the figures on this page come from

  • Contracted rates we pay: tour packages, guides, drivers, vehicles and hotel allocations — our own negotiated rates, not scraped market averages.
  • Official published prices: entry tickets, sourced from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Grand Egyptian Museum's official ticketing page; visa fees, sourced from the official Egypt e-visa portal.
  • Indicative market items: flights, eSIMs, taxis and restaurant costs move independently of us and are best checked at the time of booking.

Photographs used across this site were taken on our own tours, not licensed from a stock library, so what you see is what our guests actually experience.
